Chapter 125 - Innocent yet Haunting Smile
Chapter 125 - Innocent yet Haunting Smile
No one said anything. Jing Lihua was planning ways to escape and too preoccupied to pay attention to Su Jiayi\'s childish ways to make her feel inferior. Even if she wasn\'t preoccupied, she wouldn\'t have paid any mind to Su Jiayi\'s stupid antics.
"It\'s okay, Madama Bao if you don\'t want her. How insensible of me to take the initiative to invite her on my own while the tea party is hosted by you. I apologize." She bowed to Madame Bao. Then she faced Jing Lihua with a fake apologetic look."Sister-in-law, I apologize it seems Madame Bao only wants close people in the party." Su Jiayi continued to bow for a long time waiting for Jing Lihua to say \'Its okay\' in embarrassment.
But Jing Lihua didn\'t say anything. It was awkward. Su Jiayi couldn\'t get up before Jing Lihua said something. Su Jiayi wouldn\'t have minded Jing Lihua but now that Madame Bao was here, she had to practice best etiquettes.
"Actually, why not? I would love to have Jing Lihua at my tea party." Madame Bao eyes glittered with something and she moved forward to grab Jing Lihua\'s hands completely ignoring Su Jiayi who was bowing.
Su Jiayi. "..." What was happening? Wasn\'t Madame Bao supposed to hate Jing Lihua? Having no reason to continuing bowing Su Jiayi awkwardly moved up. She didn\'t know what to say. "W-Well then. It\'s good I guess?" She meekly said but she was ignored because neither Madame Bao nor Jing Lihua looked at her.
"Actually I\'ll have to excuse myself. I have someone very important waiting for me. Madame Bao, maybe next time." Jing Lihua tried to get her hands to lose from Madame Bao\'s grip. She still remembered how Li Zhiqiang and Li Xun were bowing in the restaurant the other day. This Madame Bao was not someone to be taken lightly. But Jing Lihua dismay, Madame Bao didn\'t even let her lose her hands from her tight grip.
Jing Lihua. "..." What was the meaning of this? She was seeing more and more of Li Zhiqiang in Madame Bao. They both were... How to say it? Equally crazy and unpredictable?
"How could you say that sister-in-law?" Su Jiayi couldn\'t believe it. It was one thing that Madame Bao invited Jing Lihua in. Jing Lihua should have been thrilled. But instead, she rejected her?! "Who could be more important than Madame Bao waiting for you?" Su Jiayi laughed. "Madame Bao, please don\'t mind Jing Lihua words. She must have said that she is too nervous in your presence. You know with all the rumors around, she might be afraid you will judge her." Su Jiayi tried her best to direct the conversation against Jing Lihua. "I\'m sorry for her behavior."
But to Su Jiayi dismay she was once again ignored. "I\'m sure whoever this important person is not even yet home. So you could spend that time with us?" Madame Bao as very warm. But Jing Lihua could see the true devil behind her smile.
Jing Lihua: "..." How did she know that Li Zhiqiang wasn\'t home yet? Wait... That\'s not important. How did she know that Jing Lihua was supposed to go out with Li Zhiqiang? How the hell she knew any of it?! They had just planned it literally thirty minutes ago! And Li Zhiqiang definitely wouldn\'t have told her!
Dangerous. Madame Bao was very dangerous.
"I guess so." Jing Lihua realized she couldn\'t do anything without her consent so she decided to go with the flow. After all, she was right. Li Zhiqiang might not be home yet so she better go with Madame Bao.
"That\'s a good girl." Madame Bao laughed and patted Jing Lihua.
Jing Lihua: "..."
Su Jiayi: "..."
All the onlookers: "..."
"Don\'t make that face. That makes me want to pinch your cheek." Madame Bao laughed heartily.
Jing Lihua didn\'t know whether to cry or to laugh. This was ridiculously similar to Li Zhiqiang. While Su Jiayi looked like she was about to snap someone\'s neck. What the hell was happening?
To sprinkle salts on Su Jiayi wounds, Madame Bao put her hands around Jing Lihua and guided her up without giving Su Jiayi a second glance. Su Jiayi was almost considering the possibility that Jing Lihua had used some sort of witchcraft on Madame Bao to make her act that way. There was no other logical explanation for this bizarre situation.
"Wait for me." She grumbled and followed behind the pair shamelessly. Whatever it was, she couldn\'t give up the opportunity of acquaintance with the legendary Li family. Just being on their good sides, was good enough.
Inside the spacious apartment, Madame Bao personally guided Jing Lihua to her chair and poured her tea while S Jiayi showed herself the way. There were dozens of important societies around the table. Jing Lihua stopped momentarily when she saw Lang Lan in there. "Ms. Lan, I didn\'t expect you to be here." Jing Lihua smiled very warmly. Of course, that was a fake smile. She had no warmth for horrible people.
"H-How are you Jing Lihua?" Hearing her voice, Lang Lan cringed in as if trying to hide from her. Of course, she was scared of that cunning fox. Jing Lihua still had her video and never in her right mind, Lang Lan would do anything to offend that demon again. Her knees still hurt from kneeling for so long.
"I\'m very fine." Jing Lihua took a sip and maintained her smile. She couldn\'t deny that seeing that Lang Lan that had tortured her countless times in her last life cringing like that wasn\'t fun. Instead, it was a lot of fun. She was feeling appreciative of Madame Bao for taking her here.
Not long after, Madame Bao arrived. "As you all know that my son has started a business in Beijing. To accompany him, I\'ll stay here. From time to time, I\'ll throw such small parties to strengthen our bonds with the people of this city. I hope you all can become the light of these parties."
Everyone who had been invited here felt deeply appreciative. It was noteworthy to say that the Li family was no small name in any sense. And ti be invited by Madame Bao was a thing to brag about for generations.
"But." Madame Bao said. "There is another thing I\'m here for." As Madame Bao said that she glanced at Jing Lihua. Her smile was innocent yet haunting. Something was wrong about what she was going to say. Jing Lihua had an ominous feeling. She quietly called Li Zhiqiang in her heart.
