Chapter 153 Third Sword
"So you know...?" Edward muttered with trepidation as he took a few steps back. Zayne\'s revenge didn\'t scare him as much as the punishment for committing such a crime.
Zayne nodded, "Sure, either way, you\'ll have to answer for what you were about to dishonor my name. You are supposed to act for the city\'s good, but instead, you are making intrigues against the one who defeated Apostle, doesn\'t that show that you are true traitors?"
Edward was puzzled, he hadn\'t expected such a thing, Reik frowned, he was a good orator and it all seemed strange to him.
\'Hmm... Why does he talk so strangely...? When he spoke in the main square, he sounded very different. Damn, that\'s suspicious.\' Reik pondered with a complicated expression.
Whoooooooooooosh.
Zayne stepped forward as two scarlet wings appeared behind him, covering the wide area. Everyone was shocked as many glasses fell to the ground, shattering into shards.
"Go away. I have no claim on you." Zayne said calmly, looking at the guests.
For a moment there was silence, then, dozens of people ran for the exits. Zayne defeated Apostle, so the simple nobles did not want to anger him at all.
Zayne\'s wings disappeared, he did not immediately attack, as if he did not want to kill Edward and Reik, his purpose was simply to frighten the others.
"Hah, boy, you may be stronger than the usual knights, but do you really think that the heads of the two families are not guarded by anyone?" Edward grinned, raised his hand, and snapped his fingers. Reik simply tilted his head and touched his forehead.
At the same moment, two silhouettes appeared beside Edward, emerging from the shadows like ghosts. Reik had only one protector, a portal opened in front of him from which an old man with a long staff and a broad hat on his head emerged.
\'Oh... The same skill as Nydan used... I wonder if all mages can do that?\' Zayne said to himself, then he looked at Edward\'s silhouettes.
They were two girls in dark robes and sharp blades. Through the thick bandages, only their green eyes were visible, like those of predatory snakes staring at their prey.
"Hehehe, I bet you regret coming here now. I admit, asking those two Travelers to kill you was a mistake, but now you definitely don\'t stand a chance!" Edward exclaimed cheerfully.
"You want to try to kill me again?" Zayne said calmly, not at all nervous.
Edward smirked, "No, I\'ll let you live. The Oracle inspection will take care of you. All I have to do is make sure my theory turns out to be correct."
Edward\'s ring sparkled brightly as a small vial with red dust inside appeared in his hand.
Zayne instantly realized what it was by the powerful energy that was coming out even through the thick glass.
\'What the hell...? It\'s definitely Chaos energy...\' Zayne inwardly muttered as his eyes went wide. The dust in the vial was crushed Chaos Crystal.
\'I see... This is exactly how you wanted to set me up. Was it really worth it? Your son acted like a real bastard, and in your attempts at revenge, you are sinking deeper and deeper into an abyss from which there is no escape." Zayne said coldly as his aura intensified, giving the others goosebumps.
"Pfffft!" Edward snorted, putting the vial in its ring, "You are a serious threat, and I will do anything to get rid of you, or else, I will never rule this city! Fight!"
Whoooooooooooosh.
The girls simultaneously rushed forward as the mage prepared to cast a spell. However, after a second they stopped as Zayne turned his back on them.
"What is he doing...?" The first girl muttered in confusion, and so did the others.
"Oh...? Decided not to attack? Is it because you\'re polite, or are you just afraid it\'s a trap? Well, you had nothing to worry about." Zayne said without turning around, "The problem is, I came here unarmed, so I need to change that, don\'t I?"
Zayne bent down and picked up from the ground the simple sword that had previously belonged to the guard.
[Iron Sword (Common)
Physical Damage: 30
A sword that any blacksmith can make. An unremarkable weapon normally used by knights, but in skilled hands, a sharp blade can cut many enemies]
\'Damn... If you only consider the damage, this sword is more than five times worse than the Thunder Hunter.\' Zayne inwardly muttered, looking at the dirty blade, \'Well, until I get a decent sword, I\'ll have to use something like that.\'
Zayne\'s eyes flashed as the sword was covered in dense blue energy, immediately receiving 30 Magical Damage, making this sword twice as dangerous.
"Did you really defeat Apostle with that skill? That doesn\'t look impressive at all!" Edward exclaimed with a wave of his hand.
The Assassin girls looked at each other and rushed forward, but they had to stop again because of the bright light that filled Zayne\'s weapon.
Whooooooooooooosh.
Zayne swung his sword as all the blue energy turned into a massive blade that headed forward, against Edward.
"Shit!" Edward exclaimed, trying to run away to the side, but the blade was moving too fast.
"Mr. Edward! Stay where you are!" The mage shouted as he launched a massive fireball.
Fireball and the energy blade collided, destroying each other and causing an explosion. The shock waves tossed Reik and Edward aside as well as sweept all the dishes off the tables. Dozens of glasses and bottles fell to the ground, as wine rushed out, spilling across the marble floor like streams of blood from a shared river.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
Cracks went to Zayne\'s sword, his sword shattering into tiny shards, falling at his feet and sinking into the crimson liquid that had already reached him.
"What...? His sword just broke? How is that possible?" The second girl muttered in disbelief.
The first girl frowned, "That sword just couldn\'t withstand the power of his skill... That\'s why great Knights always have special weapons, simple swords wouldn\'t last them long."
Zayne glanced at the hilt that remained in his hand, a clear sadness in his gaze, then he tossed it aside and picked up the second sword that was also the last.
