Chapter 816 T.D.O.N.B: The First Toy, Part IV
- No. I just finished it - was my answer.
- Can I name it? Please! - he begged.
- I think it would be better if you named the one we will make together in the future, but this one... This one is the one. A step into the new territories, so I think it should have a name that represents all of us. I think we all should come up with something - I told him.
My words made him sad, but only a little, because the vision of creating his own golem with me was too exciting. I ques it made him swallow the bitter pill.
- How about Petrograd one? P1 to make it short - Lucas proposed from the crowd.
I think it was a joke because of how he was smiling.
- How about Citizen one? C1 to make it short - Marvin asked, clearly making fun of the former firefighter.
- It could be also a Cyborg one - Tihana pointed out.
She was standing at the very front of the whole group with her arms crossed on her chest.
I rolled my eyes annoyed by the stupid ideas. The name needed to be fancy. Touch on what the golem was supposed to do, and on our community. Not some random stupid bullshit. Not to mention the naming scheme C and a number really touched my nerves because of Ki\'rai. After all the Xuvi instead of a name were calling her C-27.
- What does it can do? - Dasha asked, probably after noticing my reaction.
- It\'s supposed to deal well with a certain group of monsters. The fire elementals. I equipped it with strong barriers blocking the heat, the whole construction is heat-resistant, and it has an ice gun and a water gun. I will also give it a weapon in the future, so It will be able to attack directly - I answered.
- Can it control the fire? - Lucas asked.
His words made me speechless.
"Why the hell I didn\'t think about that?", I asked myself. "If it could control the flames, it would be so much better!"
I guess the silence was good enough answer for him.
- Maybe then Petrogradian Fire Extinguisher? - he proposed, completely abandoning his previous question.
My guess was, that he didn\'t want to humiliate me for not coming up with such an obvious way for the golem to fight with fire.
- PFE mark one - Celestine said quite quietly, but I caught it. - Doesn\'t roll off the tongue that well.
- How about Fin? Sounds almost like the acronym you proposed, and makes it more human - Carmelita said.
- But it\'s not human - Dasha argued. - It\'s a robot. A toy. A Piece of metal.
She suddenly shut up, looking at me, probably scared to piss me off by what she just said. Maybe in her mind, I was some kind of despot, or she was simply afraid of getting on my wrong side.
- Fin The First! - Leonel suddenly shouted.
- I like that - Carmelita said immediately.
I noticed a few nods here and there.
- Fin The First it is! - I announced, then turned around to my golem. - Now you are called Fin The First. Fin, wave to your new family.
He listened to my order, raised his hand, and waved.
- Hi Fin! - Tihana said to him.
- He can\'t speak? - reached me from the crowd.
- No - I answered. - At least not yet.
It was obvious that my creation needed a few changes, so I already decided to work on that in the future. I also needed to equip it with a melee weapon. After all, the magic in the crystal batteries could run out eventually, which would leave Fin without anything to fight with except his fists, and those weren\'t meant to be used in such a way.
First, though I wanted to test it in the field. Check what was working, and what wasn\'t. It was just a prototype, so There could be many things I didn\'t think about or fucked up in the process of creation. I had the knowledge from the skills and everything, but I still was only a human being.
- But you can add that? - Leonel asked, interrupting my own thoughts.
There was a tone signaling hope in his voice. I guess a robot friend was something he really wished to have.
- Yeah. I think I can - I answered and smiled at him.
He smiled back.
- Are you going to test it now? - Tihana asked.
- Yes - I confirmed.
- Can I go with you? I would like to see that - she said.
- I would like to see that too - Lucas butted in.
His words were repeated by many, so we quickly came to the conclusion of going as a whole group. After such a long time of hunting every day, people seemed to be keen for a little break.
I took them with my using shadow walk, and we landed in the vicinity of the volcano. The view made some of them gasp. Others started coughing due to the smell of sulfur in the air, combined with the dust thrown by the mountain spitting out lava from time to time.
Since it was their first time, I guess it was quite impressive.
I had already gotten used to the smell, dust, and darkness caused by the cloud of ash hanging above the volcano. Just like the everpresent orange glow of molten rock, and the fire elementals roaming around.
- Ok, Fin. It\'s your big moment. Take this - I pulled my pudao from the vault, then gave it to him - You might need it. You are going to do some of what you were made for. Fighting with fire. Make me proud.
A strange hum resonated in his metal chest. He then turned to the closest elemental and started walking toward the monster.
We followed. Some more excited than others, but the feeling was overall mutual.
