PATH OF THE STAR HUNTER

Chapter 343

The electrical currents in Keneth’s fur intensified showing the forerunner of his instant movement ability. Desmond having already experienced this ability once already had a vague understanding of it and through the heightening of his senses, Desmond caught the faint static presence behind him.

Having detected Keneth’s point of arrival, Desmond reacted even before the latter disappeared. Leaping to the left side, Desmond moved just in time to see Keneth suddenly appear as he unleashed a lightning-covered punch.

Keneth’s pupils dilated as he realized that his attack was dodged with relative ease but refusing to accept defeat, Keneth lashed out again with open jaws trying to rip Desmond’s head off.

Leaning back Desmond gave up using his feet to steady himself on the ground and instead used his right hand like a claw to pin him to the ground for some support.

Keneth’s ravenous jaws missed by mere inches as Desmond leaned in, the latter taking advantage to strike back at the moment Keneth was trying to regain his stance.

With his body held upside down by his right hand, Desmond used each of his -powered muscle fibers to generate an enormous torque force as he hit Keneth in the face with a rotary kick.

Numbness spreading up Desmond’s leg from the electrical current in Keneth’s fur, his attack also proved ineffective against Keneth’s tyrannical physique who barely staggered from the impact.

Resisting the numbness Desmond used his momentum to deliver a second roundhouse kick to Keneth before pivoting in Keneth’s face away from him.

.....

As soon as Desmond landed on the ground the numbness in his legs forced him to take an extra second to position himself properly, while Keneth froze with a hand on his jaw.

Pulling the gigantic claw away from his numb face, Keneth saw something he hadn’t seen in a long time... his own blood, it was just a tiny and insignificant amount but Keneth was furious being unable to accept that a lesser human had injured him.

BOOM*

It was as if Keneth was struck by thunder as his entire body was covered in lightning and his dark blue fur began to glow as he charged up with electricity.

Desmond didn’t even need any video game experience to know that the final boss had just entered berserk mode, the problem was that knowing didn’t necessarily mean Desmond knew what to do about it; his only conclusion was that blinded by rage Keneth would be more predictable.

Seeing how Keneth seemed to be ending to enter in his berserk state, Desmond concentrated and condensed a tremendous amount of metallic mana into his right arm and reinforced it with a surge of aquatic mana trying to use the latter to resist the electrical currents in Keneth.

Desmond’s right arm quickly went from a metallic gray to a bluish glow making it look like it was made of azurite, not wanting to lose momentum Desmond started a maelstrom of wind mana that devoured not only his own mana but also that of the atmosphere; Quickly a miniature tornado wrapped around Desmond’s right arm.

So either by coincidence or fate, both Keneth and Desmond finished their preparations. The first to step forward was Keneth whose lightning-covered physique seemed to have expanded a few dozen centimeters.

Leaving a trail of electrical sparks in his path, Keneth shot out with the force and momentum of thunder, this time prioritizing power over speed, Desmond was able to track Keneth’s movements but from the sheer wake of destruction, the latter was leaving in its wake; Desmond was not at all pleased with Keneth’s slowdown.

“Fuck it.” Cursing under his breath, Desmond pushed to his maximum limits and pushed his physical strength beyond his limits with the use of his innate ability preparing to pay the further cost.

GAAAARRRRRR*

Keneth’s mighty roar of anger was quickly followed by Desmond’s full-throated scream who didn’t want to lose in terms of battle spirit as he wielded the culmination and three elemental mana combination.

“Swallow this wolf of shit ”

Time stood still as man and beast clashed in the middle of the battlefield, partly a fight for survival but deep inside each of them knew, this was a fight for supremacy, deep down they were two beasts, two predators trying to devour their rival and only one would come out alive.

On one side was Keneth who seemed the embodiment of lightning itself, his body glowing from the enormous amount of electrical energy concentrated in him as he tried to rip Desmond apart with his claws.

Desmond on the other hand looked like the reincarnation of Poseidon as he wields the fury of the seas in his right arm where a maelstrom of wind and water mana surrounded his fist reinforced with metallic mana.

BOOOOOOM*

The wrath of the lightning meets the fury of the seas and the shock wave devastated everything tens of meters around with lightning and chaotic wind currents devastating the place; the sheer force of the resulting explosion was easily five or six times greater than the first time Desmond and Keneth had bumped fists.

A thick mist resulting from Desmond’s attack blanketed the area as occasional electrical flashes were driven by the moisture in the air, turning the place into a death trap for any normal human being.

And the loser of the match quickly became visible as his body was expelled from the mist, like a kite with broken strings it was Desmond who went flying before hitting the ground rolling a few times to a stop.

Cough * cough *

Two mouthfuls of blood came out of Desmond’s mouth as he coughed lying on the ground, his gaze slightly blurred, his body still spasming from the electrical currents running through him, Desmond tried to get up but his hands were shaking too much preventing him from leaving the ground.

It was lucky enough that Desmond wasn’t dead just because the blast of pressurized mist resulting from the attack expelled him before his body had withstood the full force and electrical current of Keneth’s attack.

“Even dogs beat me up now, today isn’t my lucky day.” A wry expression crossed Desmond’s face as he tried to get up from the ground, barely succeeding after a couple of seconds.

It almost seemed like Keneth was being nice to Desmond for letting him have time to recover but Desmond knew that wasn’t the case, he had felt it when he bumped fists against Keneth, the wolf was far more fragile than his appearance suggested.

His ridiculous defensive ability against firearms aside, Keneth didn’t seem to have very high defensive capabilities, though he made up for it with insane speed and overwhelming destructive power when he combined his physical strength with his electrical powers.

Still, when Desmond and Keneth’s fists collided, Desmond had felt overwhelming pressure from Keneth who was far stronger than himself, curiously at the same time Desmond had felt Keneth’s arm give way under the impact; at that moment Desmond could almost swear he felt some bones being break.

In that sense, Keneth’s biggest mistake was succumbing to anger, giving up his greatest advantage, which was his speed, to overwhelm Desmond with a flurry of electric attacks that would sooner or later kill Desmond or drain all of his mana while the latter tried to resist the attack′s lighting effects.

However, Desmond did not dare to sing victory, because he was not in much better shape than Keneth, although the wolf had a lower defense than Desmond’s, his strength was more than enough to hurt Desmond as much as the latter could barely stand up properly.

Showing that Desmond’s caution was warranted, the mist where Keneth was standing began to emit an electric blue glow as the water particles began to evaporate from the high temperature of the electricity that Keneth was emanating in enormous amounts.

Desmond soon saw Keneth standing in the center of the impact area with a severely injured arm as he looked at Desmond with bloodshot eyes.

Then, like that scene in the children’s story, the wolf breathed in and out as his diaphragm expanded to an unnatural extent, and immediately all the alarms inside Desmond’s mind rang furiously, warning of imminent mortal danger.

Wounded and numb, Desmond barely managed to get his body to respond to the danger as he pathetically dropped to the ground to dodge what could only be called a bullet of pure destruction that was fired from Keneth’s mouth just a fraction of a second after Desmond had dodge

A compressed shockwave covered in highly concentrated electricity erupted from Keneth’s mouth as he howled with all his might expelling all the air in his lungs.

GROOOOOOOWWWWL*

Leaving behind a trail of destruction, this electrical shock wave traveled at a frankly absurd speed, only inches away from almost destroying Desmond’s entire left torso.

“Fuck” Desmond cursed from the ground when he saw that his life almost fell into the hands of the grim reaper because of that damn electric wolf, they had barely exchanged a couple of movements between them and Desmond had already had to dodge death in a couple of times that was why Desmond was certainly upset.
